Haiti - Politics : Towards the emergence of a new Haitian citizen

Friday, Régine Lamur, Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, accompanied by Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, Minister of National Education, distributed several hundred copies of the "Guide du petit citoyen" (Small Citizen's Guide) to the students of the National School Direlan Dumerlin where Jovenel Moïse, completed his primary education.

"Since my arrival at the head of the Ministry of Youth, I have set to work to contribute my contribution to put in place a new Haitian citizen... A Haitian citizen aware of the vulnerability of the country and engaged in the process of systematic change launched by the President and set in motion by the Prime Minister," said Minister Lamur before distributing the" Guide du petit citoyen" in various classrooms as an important pedagogical tool in the learning of children from the 3rd to the 7th fundamental year.

The Minister called on all actors in the sector to combine their efforts "with a view to facilitating the emergence of a new Haitian citizen well imbued with civic and patriotic virtues".

Written in the context of a collaboration between Marsha Anglade Antoine and the Compagnie E-Print, the "Guide du petit citoyen" includes various verses from the national anthem, texts on the flag, society and civicism. It directs children to civic, moral and patriotic as Direlan Dumerlin, who at the time of donating this national school to the Haitian state in 1958, declared "My children, in your best days, never forget the needy children that need help".
