Régine Lamur, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, presented at a press briefing this week, the athletes of the Haitian delegation who will represent Haiti at the VIII Games of La Francophonie, which will take place in Abidjan (The capital of Côte d'Ivoire) from 21 to 30 July 2017.

Placed under the signs of Solidarity, Diversity and Excellence, these Games represent an opportunity for Francophone youth to meet, compete and exchange in a spirit of healthy competition.

The Haitian delegation is composed of 62 members: 28 athletes (18 Footballers, 6 Cyclists, 2 Judokas, 2 players), 10 artists (5 Hip Hop dancers, 2 Puppeteers, 1 Photographer, 1 Painter and 1 sculptor) and 14 accompaniers and/or Leaders (4 National Officers in Sport, Culture, Communication and National file manager, 4 officials, 1 Ambassador and 1 Journalist).

Our athletes will try to do better or match the competition of 2001 when Haiti won 3 medals (1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze) or 2013 with 2 medals (1 Gold and 1 Bronze).

Ralph Kernizan, the President of the Haitian Table Tennis Federation, thanked the Ministry for the financial contribution, which greatly helped prepare his two table tennis players, whom he considers sufficiently equipped to represent Haiti effectively. He took the opportunity to wish the other participants good luck.

Minister Lamur invites all the Haitian population to support our athletes and artists concluding "I understand that the conditions are difficult but I believe in the intrinsic quality of our athletes and artists to look good in these VIIIth Francophone Games."
