Haiti - Reconstruction : $370.000 for the school construction in Petit-Boucan

After the announcement of the Spanish Catholic organization, Caritas Gipuzkoa, to build a school in the parish Sacré-Cœur in Acul-des-Pins, in northern Haiti for a cost of $60.000, it is the turn of the Caritas of the Archdiocese of Mexico, to announce the construction of a school for 300 students in the community of LaSalle Corai in Petit-Boucan (Haiti). "The construction of this school is one of the actions of Caritas to contribute to development and economic recovery in the region," said in a statement the archdiocese of Mexico. Guillen Enrique, the head of Caritas Emergency stressed the importance of this project "having a school is a priority for this community because of the difficulties of access and movement of students to other cities". The total project cost, estimated to $370.000, is funded primarily by private donations. Work should begin in early February and end in May 2011. The school will have an underground cistern and septic tanks. Due to lack of electricity in the region, Caritas will also donate solar panels.
