Haiti - Diaspora : Message from the Chicago Consul

Lesly Condé, Consul General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago, makes it his duty to remind the entire Haitian community that Monday, August 14, 2017 Brings back the 226th anniversary of the Bois Caïman ; a very important event in the history of mankind, since it led to the creation of the first black republic of the world.

On this occasion, the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti will organize, with the support of the Consular Mission, on Friday, August 11 from 7:30 am, a recreational, cultural and patriotic evening at the local Kizin Creole located at 2311 W. Howard, Chicago II. On the agenda: Message from the Consul General. A snack and refreshments will also be offered.

This year again, we are counting on a good participation of the members of the community in this important activity which celebrates a moment in history whose symbolism must never be forgotten.

On Saturday, August 12 Haiti will participate in the Caribbean Carnival of Chicago. The parade will begin at 1:00 pm at Midway Plaisance, between Stoney Island and Cottage Grove. This participation is sponsored by the Consulate General of Haiti.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago hopes that the community will proudly participate in these two activities which make August a month historically and culturally significant.
