Haiti - Politics : EDH reports on its «efforts»

In the framework of the "Mondays of the Press" Hervé Pierre-Louis, the Director General of Electricity of Haiti (EDH), took stock of the situation.

He mentioned some figures reflecting the result of the "efforts" of the new management team of the company as "Some circuits of the metropolitan area, the daily distribution of electricity is from 14 to 20 hours; The recovery rate increased from 76% to 98% from February 2017 to June 2017; The number of active customers rose from 183,000 to 188,000 and 4,800 new meters were installed."

In addition, he explained that due to a strong increase in the distribution of electricity, repairs of power systems are underway in provincial towns, particularly in Arcahaie and Fort-Liberté.

"One of the challenges faced by EDH is the restoration of electrical power in the communes of Marchand Dessalines, Desdunes and Grande Saline, after more than 4 years of blackout", underlining that these actions are part of the Head of State will tha tthe EDH is able to provide electricity 24 hours a day throughout the country.

For best performance of EDH, speaking of prospects Hervé Pierre-Louis said that the EDH considered among others : the rehabilitation of the plant of Carrefour, the installation of 30,000 new meters in Delmas and Martissant and a "Peye pour sa w jwen" awareness campaign aimed at changing consumers' behavior so that they pay their electricity bill on the due date.
