In a recent joint police operation with the military authorities, a clandestine counterfeit notes printing was found in Santo Domingo on Patria Mirabal street in the east of the capital.

The printing counterfeiting US dollars (20 and 100 dollars), Haitian Gourdes (in 100, 250 and 500 Gourdes) and Dominican pesos.

The forces of order assisted of the prosecutor seized fake note printed well, for an amount of 5 million US dollars, more than 10,000 pesos and 30,000 gourdes.

Two printers were thus seized as well as a large number of matrices for counterfeiting US banknotes and 60 negatives for counterfeit currency numbering.

It is unclear how many Haitian Gourdes note have been printed and are circulating in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
