Budget ratified in the Senate

By obtaining today the satisfaction of the Senate, the bill of the finances 2017-2018 becomes law. The budget document was adopted by a majority vote: 18 senators voted in favor, 1 senator voted against and 2 senators chose to abstain.

Assistance containers sent to the North

As part of preventive operations in anticipation of the passage of the Category 5 IRMA Hurricane, containers are en route to the Great North in order to pre-position food kits, hygienic & tools that will be delivered through the 5 departments that will be most affected by the hurricane Irma. In addition, WFP moved part of its 3,300-tonne contingency stock to the north of Haiti.

Canada ready to help, Embassy closed

Canada is closely monitoring Hurricane Irma. We are ready to provide timely and appropriate assistance if necessary. In addition, the Embassy of Canada to Haiti will be closed on Thursday, September 7th, due to Hurricane IRMA. Be vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities. IRMA : NOTICE to Government Commissioners

Heidi Fortune, the Minister of Justice asks all the Commissioners of the Government of the Courts of First Instance, the Courts of Appeals and the Court of Cassation, to take the necessary measures to secure all the documents as well as the exhibits in anticipation of Hurricane IRMA. Registrars will ensure that records are kept in a safe place and are not exposed to inclement weather.

Embassy of France closed

Due to Hurricane Irma, the French Embassy and its consular section will be closed to the public on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 September. Appointments scheduled for these dates will be quickly re-scheduled. We thank you for your understanding.

Consulate of Miami closed

The Consulate General of Haiti in Miami will be exceptionally closed to the public on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 September 2017, due to the approach of Hurricane Irma. In case of emergency, please call (305) 793-1665.
