Haiti - Diplomacy : Inauguration to the OAS of the Ambassador of Haiti Léon Charles

On Wednesday, Ambassador Léon Charles, Representative of the Permanent Mission of Haiti (MPH) to the Organization of American States (OAS), officially took office.

"My military career, police offers of fromation, and a diplomat by profession, my 29 years in public administration allowed me to touch on the recurrent problems of Haitian society and to realize that our country greatly needs the sustained attention of his sons and daughters to identify the root causes of its misfortunes and the search for solutions adapted to the complexity of the political, economic and social situation.

It is this message of change that I intend to convey within the hemispheric organization with the help of a group of senior diplomats assigned to the MPH.

The main task of the working team that I have the honor to lead is to carry out an ongoing assessment of the regional political situation, to discuss some thematic issues related to the interests of Haiti within the OAS, to raise the problem of the institutional weakness of the hemispheric organization and to take steps to strengthen the presence of Haiti and the Haitians in the subsidiary organs of the OAS."
