Haiti - FLASH : Transport strike, the State ready to react

Speaking on the transport strike announced for Monday, September 18 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22123-haiti-flash-national-strike-announced-in-the-transport-sector.html , Max Rudolph Saint-Albin, the Minister of the Interior and Territorial Communities informs :

"The Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Communities informs the population that the State at the highest level guarantees that it has taken all necessary steps to ensure security throughout the country. One of the rules of democracy is that 'my right begins where begins that of the other' hich means that NO ONE I repeat, no one can force someone to strike if it does not want it. Consequently, the State has taken a series of measures to enable everyone to conduct their business as it should be during the strike day of 18 September.

[...] we will not tolerate anybody come to throw trouble in the country. The police have been given firm instructions to take all the necessary steps to ensure that life, security of life and property are controlled in these days and we take this opportunity to appeal to all those who want to demonstrate to do so according to the rules of the game."

For his part, Léon Ronsard Saint Cyr, the Secretary of State for Public Security, while recognizing the right to strike, as initiated by the transport union, gives the guarantee to all those who do not adhere to this movement that they will be able to to go quietly to their occupations. He also affirms that "the judicial and police authorities are instructed to act with the utmost severity against the troublemakers" and warns any individual against any attempt to disturb the public peace.

Buses will be available for FREE to the general public, workers in general and schoolchildren in particular, and special arrangements will be made by law enforcement authorities to maintain a climate of peace and security on the streets.

"The Office of the Secretary of Public Security is counting on the understanding of all to say no to violence".
