In the night of Thursday to Friday, 22 September 2017, 9 detainees incarcerated in a cell of the Miragoâne Police Station (Department of the Nippes) escaped.

The prisoners escaped by sawing the bars according to the report of the Justice of the Peace, Dieudonné Francois, the police spokesman calls into question the deplorable state of the place of detention, specifying that 2 escapees had been captured and that the other 6 on the run are actively sought by the National Police of Haiti (PNH).
