At the 13th Youth Conference (COY 13), 200 young community leaders, entrepreneurs, bloggers, journalists, professionals and students from the 10 departments of Haiti and the Haitian diaspora will have the opportunity to train, exchange and to take concrete initiatives in the fight against climate change from 18 to 20 October 2017 at the Campus Henry Christophe of Limonade.

Haiti, by virtue of its geographical position, is the third most vulnerable to climate change in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. Aware of the damage caused by this phenomenon in previous years and faced of this high vulnerability of Haiti, it is crucial to mobilize and sensitize young Haitians to better understand this phenomenon, so that they share their point of view, propose adaptation solutions and undertake concrete initiatives that will have significant impacts in the short, medium and long term in the country.

The objective of COY 13 in Haiti is to strengthen the commitment of young people and their capacities around climate change in order to maximize the efforts made to reduce its consequences in Haiti.

On the agenda of these 3 days, lectures and debates will focus on the following themes :

• Migration and Climate

• Green Economy

• Health and Climate

• Waste Management

• Climate Justice

• Transport and climate

• Youth Participation / Engagement

• Spatial Planning and the Sustainable Development Goals

• Energy

• Sustainable agriculture

• Climate Policy

A second phase will be devoted to youth projects related to the green economy and / or social entrepreneurship

The expected results at this Youth Conference are :

• Mobilize, inform, raise awareness and educate 200 young leaders on the challenges of climate change in Haiti ;

• Select and subsidize 5 concrete projects related to the green economy and social entrepreneurship ;

• Develop and share a manifesto with youth organizations in Haiti.

• Establishment of a platform of committed young people for the exchange and sharing of information and experiences on environmental issues, in particular those related to climate change ;

• Promote the 17 Sustainable Development Goals through the various activities planned before, during and after the Conference.

This local COY in Haiti is organized in partnership with the Civil Society Platform on Climate Change (PSC-CC), the SGP-UNDP program, the forum Act alliance, the Campus Henry Christophe of Limonade, Youth Advisory Council, Merit Haiti, Haiti: Hands ON, and the Entrepreneurial Youth Action Club.
