Haiti - Diaspora : Battle of Vertières activities in Chicago

Lesly Condé, the Consul General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago, reminds the entire community that Saturday, November 18, 2017, brings back the 214th anniversary of the Battle of Vertières, the one that did honor to the entire black race.

As part of its commitment to accompany all Haitian community organizations in their efforts, the Consular Mission, joins the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti and other local organizations to commemorate next Saturday this important date in the history of our country.

This event will be held from 6:00 pm at the Family Focus Community Center Theater, 2010 Dewey, Evanston, IL. On the program: Message from the Consul General and other speakers, patriotic songs, poems, musical entertainment, projection of the documentary "1804". Afternoon tea and refreshments will also be served.

In addition, Sunday, November 19, the faithful of all denominations are invited to a mass which will be celebrated in memory of our martyrs of Vertières. After the religious ceremony at 5:00 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Peace, located at 7801 South Jeffrey, Chicago, a reception will be offered in the basement of the Church.

Lesly Condé relies on the customary participation of the community.
