Haiti - Security : 2 UDMO agents fall under the bullets

Early Monday morning, two agents of the Departmental Unit of Law Enforcement (UDMO) lost their lives during a police operation in the area of Avenue Bolosse, near Martissant (south of Port-au-Prince, between the Morne Hospital and the sea, on the Carrefour road).

The police operation, which was attended by UDMO agents, aimed to dislodge bandits which have been spreading terror for several weeks in this popular neighborhood of the metropolitan area.

For his part, Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant reacting to the loss of these two agents said "I express my deepest sympathies and my sincere condolences to the PNH and the families of the police (Agent 2 Jimmy Boyard, 18th promotion, Agent 2 Philidor Guy Evens, 22nd promotion) victims in Grand Ravine, during a police operation, this 13 November 2017."

Reacting to this act, President Moïse said, "I am deeply touched by the killing on November 13 of two PNH agents in Grand Ravine as part of a police operation. I take this opportunity to convey my deepest sympathies to their families."

"I salute the courage and bravery of our police officers who are in conditions harsh and complicated, a heroic work in this essential struggle against barbarism. Such painful incidents remind us of the risks our police officers take every day to ensure the safety of all Haitians.

Haiti stand up to support the forces of law and order who are at the forefront of this fight against banditry. May the whole nation pull together with the PNH," declared Michel-Ange Gédéon, Director General of the PNH.

Also according to our three bandits were reportedly shot dead during clashes on Monday, 4 police officers were also wounded and thirty people were arrested.
