Haiti - Security : The Ministry deplores the bloody incident at Evangelical College Maranatha

Following the anti-gang operation at the beginning of the week, in the zone of the avenue Bolosse, close to Martissant, which made at least 7 dead among the civilians of which a guard and a professor of the "Evangelical College Maranatha" (4th Avenue in Bolosse) as well as 2 police officers of the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO), information confirmed by Alain Auguste, the Director of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) of the Department of the West; the Ministry of National Education deeply deplores the fact that a school is the scene of such bloody events that can cause a great trauma on students and staff of the institution.

The Ministry reminds all of us that a school must be a sanctuary for our children, the reference center for the academic, moral, civic and intellectual training of our young people for the future of tomorrow.

The Ministry expresses its sympathies to all those affected by this regrettable incident, especially to the educational community in the area, to all the staff and students of the Evangelical College Maranatha and the Haitian National Police, the families and comrades of the deceased police officers.

The Ministry hopes that the investigation by the judicial authorities will alloz to shed light on these unfortunate events.
