Haiti - Social : Visa delay problems for DR have been solved

Following the many complaints of Haitian citizens who have not received these days of visas (or with much delay) to come to the Dominican Republic https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23035-haiti-flash-long-delays-to-obtain-a-dominican-visa.html , Juan Carlos Guerra, head of the consular section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was reassuring Thursday, saying that there was no change in the consular policy of the Dominican Republic against Haiti.

He explained that these delays were caused by "[...] a logistic failure of the stamp supplier" stating "We have taken the replacement measures and Haitian citizens who want to enter the country for the Christmas holidays, can do it now normally, under Dominican law."

The situation is restored and the Consul of the Dominican Republic in Port-au-Prince, Ramón de la Rosa was informed, said Guerra adding that this kind of situation had already occurred in the past on other occasions and with other consulates, such as the United States.

He assumes that in the case of the Dominican Republic, that this problem may have been caused by a larger number of Haitians this year wanting to enter Dominican territory to spend the holidays (average 200,000 Haitians) "We regret this situation but in reality, it was only a logistical failure."
