Haiti - Environment : Sanitation new promises of Moïse to the mayors

Monday at the National Palace, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by his Chief of Staff Wilson Laleau and other members of his team, held an important meeting with the various municipal cartels of the metropolitan area, at the approach of the deployment of the Caravan of Change in the West Department scheduled for February 7th.

This new meeting with the mayors from the different municipalities of the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince was an opportunity for the Head of State to reiterate his commitment to the collectivities, who have a major role to play in the development of Haiti.

He expressed his willingness to involve more in the future operations, all the public institutions concerned by the sanitation issue https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23229-haiti-insalubrity-9-mayors-of-the-metropolitan-area-call-the-authorities-to-dialogue.html while promising the mayors to make every effort to enable the populations of the metropolitan area and the rest of the country to evolve in a healthier environment.

In order to allow town halls to better play their part in the sanitation effort of the Department of the West, the Head of State promised that heavy equipment and of large tonnage will be distributed in the communes.

Let's hope that this promise becomes a reality, unlike that of July 2017 when Jovenel Moïse promised the same thing before 8 mayors of the metropolitan area by saying to "wants to work to strengthen the capacities of communes by providing them with adequate materials and equipment for the implementation of their sanitation policy." https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21616-haiti-politics-moise-brings-together-8-mayors-and-made-promises-against-insalubrity.html
