Haiti - FLASH : Haiti 3rd worst country in the world in terms of access to electricity

In the latest report The Spectator Index published this week, Haiti is ranked for the year 2017, as the 3rd worst country in the world out of 137 countries in terms of access to electricity, just behind Nigeria (2nd) and Yemen (at war) in 1st position, the worst of all...

A ranking that will surprise no one as the power outages are numerous in our country, which is the only country in the Western Hemisphere where only 30% of the population (national average) has access to electricity and 6% in rural areas... One of the main obstacles to the development of Haiti.

Certainly, the new Government keeps repeating the promise made on June 12, 2017 by President Jovenel Moïse to the diaspora in Florida to provide in 24 months, electricity for all in Haiti 24/24. 6 months later, nothing has really changed overall and there is only 18 months left to the Government to keep this promise and carry out this mission impossible...

Renewable energies are constantly being put forward as the solution for the future, but apart from some negligible projects carried out in Haiti, even if they are important for those who discover electricity in the 21st century, no concrete project is not announced yet... for lack of funding...
