Haiti - Economy : The DGI further increases its forecast of tax revenues...

In the context of Mondays of the Press Miradin Morlan, the Director General of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) reported having collected in the first fiscal quarter more than 11 billion gourdes of revenue from the 10 billion expected [What does' has not prevented the Government to widen its deficit of 5 billion Gourdes https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23096-haiti-economy-already-close-to-5-billion-gourdes-deficit-in-the-first-quarter.html ]

However, he pointed out that in view of the financing needs of a series of projects, the DGI had revised upwards its forecasts of 41 billion to 50 billion gourdes for the amending budget.

To achieve this goal, Morlan says targeting the coastal area "a sector of wealth" according to him.

In addition, he said that it is planned to computerize all the offices of the DGI by 2020 with a new system called "Review Management System" (RMS). Recalling that new modern and computerized premises of the DGI have already been inaugurated through several cities in the country including Jacmel, Jérémie, Cap-Haitien, Hinche, Belle-Anse, Marigot, St. Louis North, Aquin and Verrettes and that of other inaugurations in Gonaïves, Mirebalais, Saint-Marc, Ouanaminthe, are planned in the next days. In addition he stressed that all these new offices have a Reception Center and Delivery of Identity Documents. The headquarters of the DGI will be housed in its new building by the end of the fiscal year (September 2018).

As part of the fight against corruption Miradin Morlan explained that the DGI expected to provide each department with auditing and tax inspection, which will allow the DGI to have better control to fight duplicates in the system and fight against tax evasion.

While encouraging tax compliance, he called on all Haitian citizens to submit their final income tax return, which has a maturity date of January 31, 2018, and to respect that of the Built Property Tax Contribution (PSC) fixed at March 31, 2018.

It should be noted that Haiti, which will chair the Meeting Center and Administrations Officers Fiscal Studies (CREDAF) will host from April 30 to May 3, 2018 at the Hotel Decameron, the international conference of CREDAF which includes several countries in Francophone Africa, France, Canada and the Caribbean around the theme "Consent to Tax and Accountability".
