On Thursday, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by Engineer Fritz Caillot, the Minister of Public Works and elected officials of the Department of the Center, made a visit to the Péligre hydroelectric plant, to inquire about the state of progress of work of the 3rd turbine, which will increase the total electricity generating capacity to more than 50 megawatts.

Remember that the first turbine rehabilitated of this 72-year old plant, was returned to service in August 2016 to produce 18 megawatts https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18378-haiti-social-good-news-18-megawatt-electricity-more-in-the-country.html . Today 2 out of 3 turbines are in operation and produce 36 megawatts.

In the long term, the work of the Péligre hydropower plant, whose refurbishment is financed by Germany to the tune of nearly 30 million dollars (28 million euros) https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-22321-icihaiti-politics-millions-of-euros-of-german-cooperation.html will allow to feed several areas of the Central Plateau and the Department of the West.

Moreover, during this visit Jovenel Moses guaranteed that his team would repair all the plants that have problems in the country, in order to get to make electricity available 24/24...
