"A slight earthquake was felt in the early evening of Friday in at least six communes of the Nippes. No significant damage is reported for the moment," declared the Haitian Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC).

The magnitude 4.6 earthquake on the Richter scale occurred 34 kilometers north-northwest of Petit Trou de Nippes, at coordinates 18.823°N 73.605°W, in the sea, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS ), at a depth of 12.8 kilometers.
