Haiti - Petit-Goâve : Reactions of the Bar Association on vandalism and robbery at TPI

Friday, at a press conference, Me Alcide Laguerre the President of the Bar Association of Petit-Goâve, denounced and strongly condemned the acts of violence and vandalism and robberies perpetrated on Thursday 1 March https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23697-haiti-flash-violence-and-vandalism-in-petit-goave-many-damages.html at the premises of the Court of First Instance (TPI) of Petit-Goâve.

The Bar President Laguerre has been very critical with regard to the authorities of the commune which, according to him, did not assume their responsibilities putting on account of laxity and indifference of the authorities: the acts of vandalism committed and the theft of equipment at the bâtonnat and to the court by young people, which he doubts that they are students of the High School... He indicated that he intended to lodge a complaint against the Haitian State and the directorate of Lycée Faustin Soulouque with a view to obtaining compensation, reported our fellow journalist Arnold Joicy.

In addition, the head of the CHDP, Me Ainé Martin, while condemning these acts of violence recorded in the premises of the TPI, pointed at the strikers teachers of Lycée Faustin who left the classrooms. Explicitly, he accused the striking teachers to be responsible for the day of violence and asked the prosecution to put the public action against striking teachers who have not yet nomination letter, so that they can provide explanations on acts of vandalism perpetrated at TPI Petit-Goâve, said Arnold Joicy...
