Haiti - Politic : Creation of the Solidarity Fund for the reconstruction of the National Palace

The Government has published in the official newspaper "Le Moniteur" dated March 7, 2018, the decree establishing the Solidarity Fund for the reconstruction of the historic building of the National Palace. This decree establishes transparent mechanisms to receive voluntary contributions from individuals and institutions as part of the reconstruction of the National Palace.

This Solidarity Fund is made up of:

1.- Voluntary contributions in cash and in kind of citizens of Haiti and the diaspora as well as foreign nationals;

2. Donations and legacies of public and private institutions, both national and foreign, including interest-free loans;

3.- Contributions to work, including individual volunteering, the provision, free of charge, of resource persons, technicians, workers by public or private entities;

4.- Free contributions in food and drinking water;

5.- Contributions in goods and services, including the provision, free of charge, of heavy equipment, premises, materials and equipment, means of transport and intellectual services.

In addition, it should be noted that cash contributions will be paid against receipt, either to the BRH or to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, at the headquarters of the Project Coordination Unit (UCP) hich manages the Fund domiciled with the BRH.

On the other hand, contributions in kind will be monetized by the Monetary Office of Development Assistance Programs (BMPAD).

The money resulting from this monetization operation will be fully transferred to the account of the Solidarity Fund for the Reconstruction of the National Palace.
