Saturday, February 19, at the World Ski Championships of Garmisch Partenkirchen in Germany, the Haitian skier Jean-Pierre Roy aka "Rasta Piquett", finished 70th and last in the qualifications for the Slalom. Clocked 2 minutes 55.17 seconds (2:55:17) (1st run in 1:24:14 and 2nd run in 1:31:03) for this second race at the world championship of alpine ski. The race was won by the Russian Alexander Khoroshilov, with a time of 1:41:62

Under the rules of the International Ski Federation (ISF), the 50 best skiers in the world in Slalom are directly eligible without going through the qualifications, and the 50 best skiers of the qualifications of this morning will participate to the slalom on Sunday.

Jean-Pierre Roy has unfortunately not had sufficient time to get into the main draw, the Belarus, Siarhei Mazaleuski was the last to be qualified with a time of 1:59:30 (50th in the ranking).

Jean-Pierre Roy was not disappointed on the contrary, he did not expect to be among the best in the world, he just wanted to put Haiti back on the international stage. It's a success ! In recent weeks the media: written press, radio and television from around the world, have spoke of Haiti in a positive way, thanks to this unexpected ambassador.
