Haiti - Security : USA does not close the door to support the army of Haiti

As part of his tour in the North, during a conference-debate given at Campus Henry Christophe of Limonade, US Ambassador to Haiti Michèle Jeanne Sison suggested that the United States leave the door open for a possible cooperation agreement on the process of remobilization of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H).

Asked about the refusal of the United States not to want to assist the new army of Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19746-haiti-security-usa-will-not-help-haiti-to-have-an-army.html https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21123-haiti-security-john-kelly-against-the-establishment-of-an-army-in-haiti.html , the US diplomat first recalled that for 20 years the United States supported the development of capabilities of the National Police of Haiti.

Understanding that Haiti is a sovereign country and that the armed forces have been restored to respond according to President Moïse to major natural hazards and to ensure border surveillance https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22187-haiti-flash-jovenel-moise-evokes-the-army-of-haiti-at-the-tribune-of-the-un.html , she said the United States is keeping the door open for discussions with the Haitian government on this issue.

Recalling in the wake the recent visit to Washington of Defense Minister Hervé Denis https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23367-haiti-politic-the-minister-of-defense-in-washington-dc.html , Ambassador Sison did not rule out the possibility of a possible cooperation agreement between her country and Haiti around the remobilization of the FAd'H, while reiterating that the priority of the United States was first of all the development of the Haitian National Police.
