Saturday, March 24 around 5:00 pm a sailboat ensuring the route Saint Louis du Nord/ Île de la Tortue (Turtle Island), carrying 17 people on board shipwrecked in the Canal de la Tortue (between the island and the coast of Haiti).

According to Paul Wisly member of CASEC of the zone, very experienced by this tragedy declared that 12 people had disappeared including the reverend Father Tanis Charles aka said "Billy", priest of the Catholic Church, assigned to the Sacred Heart parish on Turtle Island.

"I express all my pain following the sinking of a sailboat ensuring the route Saint Louis North / Turtle Island. Research is currently underway to find the bodies of the victims and the survivors of this tragedy," said President Moïse.
