Haiti - Security : Graduation of the 5th Promotion of Police Commissaires

Thursday in the auditorium of the National Police School, Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant, accompanied by the Senate Speaker Joseph Lamber and senior officers of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), in the presence of several personalities of the Civil Society, of the international community and parliamentarians, participated in the graduation ceremony at the 5th Promotion of Police Commissaires.

In his address to the recipients, Prime Minister Lafontant emphasized "[...] You have made the choice to serve and protect the Nation. It is an honorable task that you have chosen. Today you are taking another step in your career. With all the commitments you will have, Be excellent !"

"[...] A strengthened National Police is necessary for the Haitian democratic process. To the 72 new Commissioners, I extend my compliments to which I wish you all the best for a successful career," said Senator Lambert.

"It is an honor to represent Canada at the graduation ceremonies of the Commissioners of the National Police Academy. Canada has long stood with the PNH to ensure the safety of Haitians and we are very proud of it," said André Frenette, Ambassador of Canada to Haiti.

Pour sa part, Michel-Ange Gédéon, Directeur Général de la PNH a déclaré aux nouveaux Commissaires "[...] No more dirigisme that imposes and controls everything. In the PNH today, we do not want to train leaders who are feared through a superfluous and outdated authoritarianism. We do not want a commander, no boss. No more traditional chef time. I do not encourage the permissive style of management, let alone liberalism but know that you will manage beings made of flesh and blood. Within the limits of the law, you must do everything for the happiness of the men and women under your orders. You must have your heart on your hand, you must keep your hand on your heart and never let your heart speak before reason has spoken. Sanction according to the law and not on the basis of emotions [...]" said Michel-Ange Gédéon, Director General of the PNH.
