Haiti - FLASH : Brazil proposes a humanitarian visa for Haitian residents in Haiti

The Government of Brazil has decided to give Haitians and "stateless" residents in Haiti priority treatment for humanitarian purposes. In this sense, was issued on April 9, 2018, the Interministerial Order No. 10, dated April 6, 2018, which establishes the granting of temporary visas and residence permits, for humanitarian purposes, for Haitian citizens and the "stateless" residents in Haiti.

"This visa will be issued exclusively by the Brazilian Embassy in Port-au-Prince and will allow the grant of temporary residence for two years in Brazil, which may be converted into permanent residence at the end of this period.

The publication of this decree regulates the temporary visa for humanitarian reception, which was provided for in the Brazilian Migration Law (Law No. 13.445 / 2017). This instrument will allow the continuity of the Brazilian humanitarian policy towards Haiti in the field of migration," clarify the Brazilian Embassy in Port-au-Prince.
