Haiti - Politic : Towards a better service of the MHAVE for Haitians living in DR

Monday, in order to learn about the actions to be undertaken at the Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) to better serve our compatriots of the diaspora living in the Dominican Republic, Guy André Junior François the new Minister of the Diaspora met with the former Minister of MHAVE, Edwin Paraison Executive Director and co-founder in 2005 of the Zile Foundation in the neighboring Republic.

During the exchanges, they discussed the situation of Haitians living with our neighbors and the fallout from the constitutional decree 168-13 which denationalized the Dominican of Haitian descent born on the Dominican territory between 1929 and 2007. A situation partially resolved by decree 169-14 which allowed nearly 7,000 Haitians [out of more than 150,000 concerned) born in the Dominican territory, parents of irregular immigration to apply for Dominican nationality under conditions of respect of certain criteria.

Paraison also explained the various actions taken by the Zile Foundation for the benefit of undocumented Haitian workers and cane cutters working in the Bateys in the Dominican Republic. He insisted on the problem of identity documents (birth certificates, ID card passport etc...) that Haitian services are slow in delivering to our compatriots who tries to regularize with the Dominican authorities https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11414-haiti-socialhaitian-authorities-have-no-excuses-dixit-edwin-paraison.html
