This Wednesday, May 9, the national senior women's selection begins the first phase of the qualifiers of the Women's World Cup France 2019 at the Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince, headquarters of Group B alongside Martinique, Guadeloupe and Jamaica which is one of the favorite teams.

Note that the selection of our Senior Grenadières is very different from the one that took part in the qualifiers of the last edition of World Cup Canada 2015 where Haiti had beaten from the start Cuba to Mirebalais then finished third in the Caribbean final played at Trinidad. Only Samantha Brandt is in this new generation and it is therefore a rejuvenated selection that targets one of three qualifying tickets for the World Cup in the third CONCACAF phase to be played next October in the USA.

On the effective side, the Haitian national team will still be deprived of two centerpieces : the captain Sauvelyne Beaubrun injured during a training session and replaced on the list by Tabita Joseph who is also a brave back, and the mega star of the CONCACAF Zone that plays in France (Montpellier Hérault) and Nérilia Mondésir selected by his club to play a meeting of "Champions League" unfortunately for the Haitian Federation, these playoffs are held outside the FIFA dates.

However, this handicap will be overcome with the arrival of three new players coming from Sweden (Samanta Brandt), Greece (Dania) and USA (Danielle Darius). National coach Stephen Defour believes that despite a very long absence of this senior team that has not played a competition since 2015, it has the potential to go far in these playoffs.
