Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) has announced yesterday Sunday, the granting of an annual donation of about $200 million over ten years "These are grants, and not loans, as part of the efforts deployed by the bank that works with the Haitian government and other donors for the reconstruction of Haiti" said the IDB President on official visit to Port-au-Prince where he will participate today in a meeting of the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission (IHRC)and will meet with President René Préval.

He also announced a series of measures to encourage private investment in Haiti to create jobs in a country where over 60% of the workforce is unemployed, a guarantee fund for the recapitalization of the small and medium enterprises in Haiti as well as funds to facilitate the bank credit.

Luis Alberto Moreno has reiterated the support of the IDB to the the government's plan to offer free education to all children of Haiti

The IDB created at the same time with Spain, a fund of 50 million that could reach $200 million, to prevent the investment risk of the haitian financial institutions.

The IDB president has assured that the commitment of the IDB would continue, whatever the winner of the election.
