Haiti - Economy : Mission of entrepreneurs from the Bahamas to the country

Following the meeting between President Jovenel Moïse and Hubert Minnis, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, on the sidelines of the 29th Conference of Heads of State of CARICOM https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23661-haiti-politic-fruitful-conversation-between-president-moise-and-the-prime-minister-of-the-bahamas.html the Head of State welcomed on Wednesday at the National Palace, a large delegation of Bahamian entrepreneurs, as part of strengthening cooperation between the Bahamas and Haiti.

At this meeting, in the presence of Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant and Ministers Antonio Rodrigue (Foreign Affairs) and Guyler C. Delva (Culture and Communication), Moïse welcomed the initiative of these entrepreneurs to explore business opportunities in Haiti and expressed his ambition to make Haiti an investment destination. He also reiterated the commitment of the Government of Haiti to work to strengthen relations between the two countries, to intensify trade and to bring together the private sector players of the two nations.

The President Moïse explained to his interlocutors that the Haitian State had already put in place a number of incentives to attract investors in different sectors of the economy, such as tourism, construction, housing, housing handicrafts, agriculture, electronics, agribusiness, infrastructure, electricity and textiles for which Haiti enjoys privileged access to the US market free of taxes thanks to the provisions of the HOPE II law / HELP.
