Haiti - Petit-Goâve : Land conflict, a bloodbath narrowly avoided in Baillode

Thursday, May 24 at around 9:00 am Luc Auguste, accompanied by the surveyor Joseph Milord, came to claim in Baillode, a locality of the 11th communal section of Petit-Goâve, 6 carreaux of land which he says heir and owner.

The occupiers of these lands reacted strongly and categorically opposed Mr. Auguste whose they dispute the property rights. The situation quickly degenerated stones and bottle shards were launched against Mr. Auguste in the greatest confusion. Shots were heard.

According to the information gathered, nearly 200 families live on these lands, some of them for 50 years, others between 25 and 40 years old.

The intervention of Mackendson Pierre, the coordinator of the cartel Casec of the 11th communal section has avoided that this land conflict turns into a bloodbath "The situation seemed so tense that without my intervention we could have a bloodbath to Baillode. I have made every effort to prevent loss of life," said Mackendson Pierre at Radio Préférence's Microphone.
