Haiti - NOTICE : Call for proposals for projects (CFLI 2018-2019)

For more than 30 years, Canada has been funding modest development assistance projects through the Canada Local Initiatives Fund (CFLI). The CFLI is a program that supports small projects proposed and implemented by local NGOs and other community organizations. It enables Canada to respond to local needs by working at the community level, strengthening relationships with civil society and local communities, and building networks of contacts around the world.

From June 14 to July 4, 2018, the Canadian Embassy is accepting project proposals worth between C $ 15,000 and C $ 40,000 (approximately 745,000 to 1.9 million gourdes), around the following theme:

Inclusive governance, including diversity, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

Recipient Country Partners :

  • Local non-governmental, community and not-for-profit organizations,

  • local academic institutions working on local projects,

  • International, intergovernmental, multilateral and regional institutions, organizations and agencies working on local development activities,

  • Municipal, regional or national government institutions or agencies of the recipient in country working on local projects, and

  • Canadian non-governmental and not-for-profit organizations that are working on local development activities.

Note: Eligible organizations must be properly constituted, have a legal status granted by the competent authority and have a bank account opened in the name of the institution. Those who do not meet these requirements may submit their project through through an organization that sponsors the project to act as an intermediary and take charge of the implementation of the initiative.

Selection criteria :

Submitted projects will be reviewed by the Embassy's CFLI Evaluation Committee. Projects with one or more of the following aspects will be avantaged :

  • The project’s objectives and outcomes must clearly align with the CFLI’s thematic priority.

  • The sustainability of the development activity proposed by the project. The products, services, benefits and impacts generated by the project should last beyond the period being financed by the CFLI.

  • The project has more than one source of financing, whether it be in cash, in kind or through volunteer or paid work by the organization itself or a partner.

  • Precision and clarity in the identification and description of the problem the project is trying to solve.

  • The project proposal has a realistic and coherent budget, clearly demonstrating that the funds being requested will be used efficiently.

  • The project integrates the principles of good governance, equality between men and women and respect for the environment.

Note: Project proposals that do not meet the selection criteria or that do not correspond to the thematic priority will not be considered.

Only project proposals received before 11:59 AM (local time) on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 will be reviewed and if a project is retained we will contact you for the necessary follow up.

Please note that applications that do not comply with the procedures detailed in this notice will not be considered and only organizations selected for funding will be contacted !
