Haiti - Justice : A Canadian woman apprehended

A Canadian woman has been arrested this Tuesday at the international airport of Port-au-Prince, in possession of one kilo of cocaine. When arrested, she was in a departure lounge and was preparing to take a flight to return to the Quebec.

"She was arrested in a departure lounge at the airport. The drug that she was carrying was concealed in her underwear", explained a police officer in charge of the office of the fight against drug trafficking (BLTS).

The woman who would be a Montrealer would have left the Quebec one week ago to Haiti in order to sponsor someone. Her husband on the air of a Quebec television station stated that she "could have been handled, because she does not consume any drugs or alcohol".

Currently the woman is imprisoned in Port-au-Prince and should be submitted to justice.

Remember that Haiti is on the blacklist of a document submitted by the State Department to Congress on Thursday, March 3, document containing the names of 20 countries that are used for the transit of drugs, to consumer countries, Haiti is listed as a transit country.
