Haiti - Jacmel : Low electoral motivation 7 days before the election

In Jacmel, 7 days prior to the second round of the presidential and legislative elections of March 20, 2011, the electoral campaign of the candidates takes place in a rather timid way.

Since February 17, 2011, date of the official launch of the campaign by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) throughout the territory of Haiti, the city of Jacmel, at the exception of the large meeting held by the candidate Martelly during the Carnival of Jacmel, in the company of Wyclef Jean and of the singer Shabba of Djakout #1, Jacmel, politically, seems to live in slow motion, as the electoral activities are modest...

In the streets photos and banners of the candidates to the legislative : Roberto Thibeaud and Patrick Domond, respectively candidates for deputies under the banner Alternative and the Platform INITE, are discrete on the walls.

In the office of the National Identification Office (ONI), located in the office of the Delegation of the Sud'Est, the delivery process for the National Identity Cards (NIC) is idling, compared to the first round.

At the level, of the Departmental Electoral Office (BED) of the Sud’est, the work of arrangement and of audit have not yet begun in the voting centers of the city. However, the partial electoral lists were shown in some voting centers...

Unlike the first round of elections on 28 November 2010, the public of Jacmel seems less aware and little motivation to go to the polls next March 20...
