Haiti - Religion : The Bishop of Anse-à-Veau met with Pope Francis

Bishop Pierre-André Dumas, Bishop of Anse-à-Veau and Miragoâne accompanied by representatives of the Haitian university pastoral, met Pope Francis during the general audience of August 8, reports the Vatican newspaper "L'Osservatore Romano" a political and religious daily 150 years old ...

After having been to Taizé [Saône-et-Loire, France], where there is a Christian monastic community of about a hundred brothers, from all over the world, who have chosen to live together a life of prayer and celibacy in simplicity Bishop Pierre-André Dumas went to Rome, to see the Pope "to go to the roots of our faith, to be really ready, once back in Haiti, to give an account of our hope and our confidence".

Bishop Dumas explains in "L'Osservatore Romano" that in Haitian society "we feel today more than ever a lack of mutual trust. But without trust, we can never grow as a people. Indeed, trust is the soul of all social relationships and we Christians must testify that God always trusts men and this must be our attitude towards each other."
