Haiti - Agriculture : 16 Haitian scholarship holders to India

Friday at the National Palace, President Jovenel Moïse, received 16 Haitian students who are preparing to leave the country for India to attend training in modern management of poultry farms.

In the presence of Jobert C. Angrand the resigning Minister of Agriculture and several of his advisers, the Head of State met with the young scholarship holders who were recruited from various agricultural associations across the country.

These scholarship holders will be supervised by Bernardy Sainvil, an agricultural expert from the Ministry of Agriculture throughout their training, will visit the "Dr. BV Rao Institute of Poultry Management and Technology" (IMPT) in Pune (the second largest city in the world, India, State of Maharashtra in the West), where they will attend an 8-week training course in hatchery management, feed input management, broiler rearing, layer rearing, modern sanitation techniques, management of poultry farms and marketing.

This initiative is the first of a series of specialized poultry training programs that will allow Haiti to increase its domestic production of eggs and broilers in order to meet the needs of the population, support entrepreneurship in the poultry industry and make available trained managers in modern poultry production techniques.

Let's stress that India is known for its substantial egg production (over $ 3.5 billion / year) and its expertise in managing poultry farms and modern agricultural / poultry co-operatives.
