Haiti - FLASH : All details on new minimum wages

The decree fixing the minimum wage from 1 October 2018 has just been published in the official journal Le Moniteur - Special No. 18. In most segments the increases are higher than the last annual inflation rate (14.1%, August 2018), published by the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics (IHSI) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25632-haiti-economy-inflation-passes-the-bar-of-14.html with the exception of segments C and E, which increase by only 3.4% and 7.5% respectively.

These increases are applicable as of October 1, 2018.

Minimum wages, 2018 extracted from the Order :

Article 1 (Segment A) + 25%: 500 Gourdes (400 Gourdes in 2017)

Minimum wage fixed at 500 gourdes per day of 8 working hours in: private electricity production; financial institutions (banks, transfer houses, insurance companies); telecommunications; import-export trade; supermarkets; jewelery stores; Art Galeries ; furniture, furniture and appliance stores; doctor's office, polyclinics, hotel 4 hibiscus [...]

Article 2 (Segment B) + 14.2%: 400 Gourdes (350 Gdes in 2017)

Minimum wage fixed at 400 Gourdes per 8-hour working day in the following sectors: buildings and public works (BTP); rental of trucks and heavy machinery; rental of building materials; construction materials transport companies; hardware stores; other financial institutions (cooperatives, caisses populaires ..., hotel 3 hibiscus manufacturing industries turned to the local market [...]

Article 3 (Segment C) + 3.4%: 300 Gourdes (290 Gdes in 2017)

Minimum wage set at 290 Gourdes per 8-hour working day in: Restaurants; agriculture, forestry, livestock and fisheries; agricultural product processing industry; retail trade, except supermarkets, jewelery stores, cosmetics and clothing stores [...]

Article 4 (Segment E) + 7.5%: 215 Gourdes (200 Gdes in 2017

Minimum wage set at 215 gourdes per day of 8 hours of work as domestic service personnel (housekeepers).

Article 5 (Segment F) + 20%: 420 Gourdes (350 Gdes in 2017)

Minimum wage of 420 gourdes per 8 hour working day in export-oriented assembly industries and other export-oriented manufacturing industries.

Article 6 (Segment G) + 33.3%: 400 Gourdes (300 Gdes in 2017)

Minimum wage of 400 gourdes per day of 8 hours of work in private security agencies and petroleum distribution companies.

Article 7 (Segment H): + 14.2% 400 Gourdes (350 Gdes in 2017)

Minimum wage of 400 gourdes per day of 8 hours of work in private vocational schools and private health institutions employing more than 10 persons and offering hospitalization services
