Haiti - Handifoot : The Haitian Selection trains in the USA for the World Cup

From October 2 to October 20, the players of the Haitian National Amputee Football Team train in the United States for their participation in the 2018 Handifoot World Cup to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico from 24 October to November 5, 2018.

Much more mature than the previous edition where our national team was eliminated in the 1/4 final by Poland [3-0], our Grenadiers (4th in the world ranking) have great ambitions according to Ariel Valenbrun, the President of the Haitian Amputee Football Association (AHFA) "Our biggest dream is to go to Mexico and win the trophy."

Remember that our amputee Grenadiers crushed the United States [5-0] in the final of the Copa America last year and it is the first Haitian Handifoot National Selection to have won a match in the finals of the World Cup and that it has all chances to go far in this World Cup.

This year 24 countries divided into 6 groups will participate in the Handifoot World Cup 2018. The Grenadiers are in Group D, facing Angola, Ukraine and Spain.

Maarten Boute, President of Digicel Haiti, one of the main partners of Haitian Handicap Football, said "Digicel has always been very involved in promoting the social inclusion of people with disabilities. Through its Foundation, Digicel has financially supported Special Olympics Haiti for many years. It is a duty to continue to set an example for our fellow citizens on the importance of a more open society. This new partnership is an opportunity to help develop a more inclusive community that integrates everyone, especially those with special needs."

"On 4 Editions, it will be the 3rd time that Haiti will take part in a World Cup [...] We are more than happy that the Digicel has decided to support us. The players are eager to demonstrate to the whole country that they can continue their winning serie," concluded Rochenel Pierre, the national coach of our Grenadiers.
