Haiti - Sports : The Caribbean Cycling Championship 2019 will take place in Haiti

The mission of David Lappatient, the President of the International Cycling Union (UCI) at the head of a delegation composed of Desgrange Dufaide Secretary General of the Haitian Cycling Federation (FHC), Trevor Bailey, President of the Union of Cyclists of the Caribbean, Alfred Defontis, President of the Regional Cycling Committee of Martinique and Philibert Moueza, President of the Cycling Committee of Guadeloupe, came to Haiti to discuss with the Haitian authorities the holding in 2019 of the Caribbean Cycling Championship in Port-au-Prince, ended last Friday.

On Wednesday, at the Karibe Hotel, a welcome cocktail in honor of the arrival of the UCI delegation in Haiti was organized by the Haitian Cycling Federation, which was attended by, among others, the Vice President of the Haitian Olympic Committee, Rachelle Vorbe and Mario Florvil, Director General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

In her speech Rachelle Vorbe, congratulated the efforts of the leaders of the FHC for the actions undertaken for the practice of cycling in Haiti while Mario Florvil took the opportunity to reaffirm the will of the Ministry to continue to accompany all the sports federations of countries in their development initiatives of their respective disciplines.

On Thursday, the UCI delegation visited the facilities of the Center Sport for Hope Haiti in Croix-des-Bouquets. David Lappartient, in addition to preparing for the official launch of the 2019 championship, also wanted to see the possible development of a BMX field at the Sport Center for Hope and know how the Center could host local and international cyclists who will have to participate in this championship.
