Haiti - FLASH : More than 20 people intoxicated by fish in Petit-Goâve

Between Friday and Saturday, November 3, more than twenty people were hospitalized in Petit-Goâve after consuming contaminated fish.

"A dozen people were admitted in the evening of Friday in the emergency room of the Notre Dame Hospital in Petit-Goâve... They writhed with abdominal pain. They vomited and had diarrhea. They were poisoned by a contaminated fish bought at the communal market of the city," reported our colleague Wilson Saint-Juste.

On Saturday, other people have consumed fish with the same symptoms and have been treated at Notre Dame Hospital.

It is URGENT that the Ministry of Public Health and the Town Hall of Petit-Goâve open an investigation into the cause of this intoxication while temporarily prohibiting the population of Petit-Goâve from consuming fish.
