Haiti - Tourism : The Tourist Association of Haiti is alarmed and calls for calm
On Wednesday, the Tourism Association of Haiti (ATH) expressed in a note its deep indignation at the recent violent events that have once again wounded the country and deplored the situation of insecurity that has persisted for several months in Haiti and which affects the tourism sector.

"For the good of the general population, this unbearable situation, which continues to degenerate, must end immediately in order to allow everyone to move about and to go about their personal and professional activities freely and with complete peace of mind. To this end, we ask that the messages calling for violence, broadcast in a loop on certain radio stations, be immediately suspended and banned, and that traffic on all roads in the capital and the provinces can be safe."

The ATH recalls that the tourism sector is a transversal industry, creating jobs and wealth and that "its development is one of the only viable economic engines in the long term, all obstacle to its proper functioning and growth, is a direct threat to the survival of our economy."

At the beginning of the end of year holiday season "[...] we call on the government authorities concerned to take the necessary steps to ensure the return to calm and allow local, international and our diaspora tourists to travel to the country without fears as usual."
