Haiti - Economy : Alliances, technology transfers, investments

Guy Lamothe, Director of Investment Facilitation Center (CFI), highlighted Wednesday the importance of creating strategic alliances between the Haitian and Caribbean entrepreneurs to promote alliances, technology transfer and to allow the increase of the creation of sustainable jobs in Haiti.

Is in this perspective that last week, in Trinidad and Tobago, at the initiative of the CFI among others, dozens of engineers, architects, construction firms and their main partners in the region met to establish, among other things, a network of contacts. "The CIF continues to guide foreign entrepreneurs towards their Haitian counterparts for investments to ensure that Haitian businesses are not excluded [for the reconstruction process]" said Guy Lamothe, reiterating the commitment of his institution, to attract in Haiti, the largest possible number of foreign investors including from the Caribbean.

"We absolutely must get out of the assistantship to enter permanently into the era of wealth creation and sustainable employment" noting that to receive foreign investment, it is necessary that Haiti have among other things: a skilled workforce, better training schools and a legal environment that can bring confidence to investors. Guy Lamothe took the opportunity to announce that a new investment code will soon be submitted to parliamentary, code, which will, according to him, allow to face the challenges of the reconstruction of the country for the next 25 years.

The journalist Roosevelt Jean Francois, who attended recently in Canada, to the Meeting of the the International American Development Bank (IDB), has indicated that there is a lot of young foreigners entrepreneurs who want to do business in Haiti and that it was important that steps be taken to accommodate them in order to promote job creation in the country.
