Haiti - Taiwan : Laying of the foundation stone of hospital OFATMA to Port-de-Paix

Friday as part of the Taiwanese cooperation, following the announcement by the Office of Occupational Accident Insurance, Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA), in September 2018 of a construction project in Port-de-Paix, of a modern hospital https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25502-haiti-health-ofatma-many-projects-including-for-the-diaspora.html financed mainly by Taiwan (Republic of China), Joseph Agabus the Director General of OFATMA accompanied by First Lady Martine Moïse, Dr. Marie Greta Roy Clément the Minister of Public Health and the Ambassador of Taiwan (Republic of China) Cheng-Hao Hu among others, took part in La Saline, not far from the Port-de-Paix Sports Park, to the laying of the foundation stone for this new hospital infrastructure.

According to Joseph Agabus, this 120-bed hospital center, built on a 2.5-hectare site, will have internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics and surgery, and will also offer care in urology, ophthalmology and dermatology, radiology and dental. It will have a dialysis service, a laboratory, a physiotherapy and orthopedic room, 2 operating theaters and 15 outpatient clinics. The site will also include a heliport and a building to house hospital staff.

In her speech, Minister Clement emphasized that this new health infrastructure was another step in the process of decentralizing pf OFATMA's services and boosting the access of the population to health care."

The work is expected to last 20 months and begin in February 2019.
