Haiti - Security : Taiwan issues a second travel warning «Orange» for Haiti

On Saturday, February 16, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Taiwan (Republic of China) issued a second warning "Orange" for Haiti, following the persistent socio-political unrest among its Caribbean ally, provoked by numerous violent demonstrations demanding for the resignation of President Jovenel Moïse, having made several deaths and many wounded since February 7 last.

The Ministry urges Taiwanese citizens to avoid unnecessary displacement in Haiti and urges those who must absolutely move to exercise extreme caution. MOFA states that all Taiwanese expatriates and staff of the Taiwan Embassy in Haiti are currently safe.

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is calling on protesters and the Haitian Government to engage in a dialogue to resolve their differences and put an end to the turmoil as soon as possible.

In case of emergency, Taiwanese nationals may request the help of the Taiwan Embassy in Haiti at (+509) 3113-4662 or ask their families to call the toll-free number 24/7, at 0800 -085-095 to join the MOFA in Taipei.

Note that MOFA uses red, orange, yellow and gray codes to indicate alert levels for people traveling abroad, with red being the highest alert level and gray the lowest.
