Haiti - Humanitarian : Americans deliver 135 tons of food and humanitarian supplies

The High Speed Vessel Swift (HSV 2), as part of the Southern Partnership Station (SPS 2011), is arrived at the Wharf of Port-au-Prince at 6:00 yesterday morning. On board, 135 tons of donations (canned food, bottled water and humanitarian supplies) valued at nearly $1 million for Haiti.

On 177 pallets, these 135 tons of goods were unloaded to be given to the humanitarian organization Catholic Relief Services, which will handle the distribution in Haiti, mainly to orphanages.

This is the second trip in less than 6 months of HSV 2 in Haiti. During its previous visit in November 2010 the ship had delivered a mobile medical clinic of 14 tons [gift of the Mobile C.A.R.E. Foundation, an organization based in Chicago] and 39 pallets of bio-sand filters.
