Haiti - NOTICE : Canada maintains its level of risk for Haiti

In its travel alert, the Government of Canada reminds its citizens that "Violent protests occurred in Port-au-Prince and other cities across the country in February 2019. Clashes, sometimes involving the use of firearms, resulted in casualties.

Although tensions have eased somewhat, the situation remains fluid and unpredictable. Demonstrations and strikes could occur without notice and disrupt transportation, stresses the Canadian Government in its alert to travelers who is still at risk level Avoid all non-essential travel"

New demonstrations are planned in Haiti on March 29, 2019. "Even peaceful demonstrations can turn violent at any time. They can also lead to disruptions to traffic and public transportation.

  • Avoid areas where demonstrations and large gatherings are taking place

  • Follow the instructions of local authorities

  • Monitor local media for information on ongoing demonstrations,
" recommends the Canadian Government.
