Haiti - Portrait : Who is Jean-Michel Lapin ?

A career civil servant and former politician Jean Michel Lapin (52) from Jacmel, Prime Minister appointed by the Head of State to replace the outgoing Prime Minister, made his debut in public administration at the Ministry of Public Health and Population (1988-1989). It is found, from 1989 to 2007, at the National Library of Haiti before joining the Ministry of Culture and Communication, where he rose through the ranks after serving as Director, Director General and finally Minister.

Known for his discipline and his rigor Jean Michel Lapin is a technocrat who likes to stay close to his records. A non-confrontational, unifying, conciliator, unifying and of high moral integrity, he knows how to avoid direct confrontations with his collaborators and at the same time keep himself away from affairs that have been fatal to other politicians ...

An experienced manager is notified and a politician very careful who knows, if ratified that being Prime minister in the current context, that his task will not be limited to a simple consultation with the Head of State, as the challenges are many, from the fight against poverty to the beginning of the reforms, through the appeasement of the social climate. He wants to continue economic reforms and investments in infrastructure to stimulate growth and revive dialogue.

Man of speech, openness, of principle and rigor, Lapin has an atypical national and international notoriety and a perfect mastery of the economic and financial questions.

At age 52, a fervent Christian, married and father of family, he made the service of the State a true "priesthood". A former student of Roger Anglade College where he graduated with a BA II, he graduated in administrative management from the University of the West Indies and Guyana-Guadeloupe. He also studied economics at the Institute of Higher Commercial and Economic Studies (IHECE) and obtained a certificate of competence in public management under the auspices of the Ministry of Civil Service and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
