Haiti - Social : Two Haitian students selected for the International Competition of Eloquence

Two Haitian students from the Faculty of Law and Economic Sciences of the State University of Haiti (UEH) Esther Grégoire and Jerry Syvrain respectively 1st and 2nd laureate of the Human Rights Moot Court Competition organized by the Office of Human Rights in Haiti (BDHH) in partnership with the University Agency of La Francophonie (AUF) last March, were selected from 31 candidates to participate in the first phase of the International Eloquence Competition of the University Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne.

The candidates, at distance, will take part in the first international round of the competition on April 19th alongside the 16 candidates of the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. The participants will have to demonstrate their talent of speaker by intervening during 5 minutes on one of the two following subjects : "Should one adapt to the world ?", "Should we prefer an original error to a banal truth ?"

Candidates will have to demonstrate talent, daring and use techniques of public speaking to convince the jury composed of representatives of the AUF and three associations practicing eloquence : Lysias Paris 1, SONU and Révolte-toi Sorbonne.

The 16 winners of this first phase will meet for the semi-final on May 10, 2019.

8 finalists will then compete in the finals of the competition held on May 21, 2019 at the Pantheon in Paris.
