Haiti - Security : A police officer shot dead in a Tap-Tap

Monday, April 29, at midday on the National Road #1, at Cité Soleil, Fertil Gabriel, a police officer in civilian clothes, assigned to the Directorate of Traffic and Traffic Police (DCPR) was fatally wounded by several bullets, by at least 3 individuals while on his way to his house on a Tap-Tap.

Although injured Fertil Gabriel reportedly shot back, injuring 2 of his attackers before giving. The police offcier's weapon disappeared, probably carried away by one of the attackers according to Evens Levêque, the Justice of Peace of Cité Soleil in charge of the report.

According to our information, one of the wounded individuals is presently being questioned by the departmental judicial police, while the other is in the hospital to undergo surgery.

For the moment one not known the reasons for this police officer murder, the 14th since the beginning of the year.
